Data inventory, harmonization and creation of a large agricultural geodatabase
2 to 6 months internship offer
Context
NASA Harvest is NASA's Food Security and Agriculture Program, working to advance the
use of satellite Earth observations to benefit global agricultural monitoring and food
security decision-making. The program brings together researchers, policymakers, and
private sector stakeholders to develop innovative, science-driven solutions for addressing
agricultural challenges. NASA Harvest aims to support sustainable agriculture and improve
global food systems, ensuring that stakeholders have the tools they need to make informed,
timely decisions. With the increasing challenges posed by climate change, population
growth, and resource scarcity, understanding agricultural systems at both local and global
scales is more important than ever.
NASA Harvest recently gained access to a comprehensive geodatabase, containing diverse
within field level datasets related to agricultural practices and monitoring. This
internship focuses on inventorying, harmonizing, and building this database into a
cohesive, accessible, and structured resource. The goal is to create a robust geospatial
database that will support ongoing research and applications in agriculture and food
security. Interns will gain hands-on experience with geospatial data management, database
design, and tools for integrating datasets, contributing directly to meaningful
advancements in agricultural monitoring efforts.
