(September 2023 - March 2024) : Exact start date of the internship to be agreed. Send your CV and your cover letter to: rapidmapping(a)unitar.org General objectives of the contract: The Trainee will primarily focus on supporting with geospatial analysis and mapping UNOSAT’s humanitarian rapid mapping service as well as other Geospatial related activities as part of UNOSAT’s project portfolio. Good knowledge of platforms like GEE is required. Qualifications and Requirements: The trainee should have a master’s degree or be pursuing this degree in a relevant field, such as geophysics, geography, environmental science, remote sensing, or a related discipline. A specialization in natural disaster management is desirable. Technical Skills: Proficiency in remote sensing software (e.g., ENVI, ArcGIS, AGOL, QGIS), image analysis techniques and GEE knowledge is required. Familiarity with geospatial data processing, interpretation, and mapping is highly advantageous. Languages: Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required. Proficiency in other United Nations languages is an asset. Interpersonal Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary. The trainee should be a team player and able to work in a multicultural environment. Location: This traineeship position will be based in Geneva (Switzerland). Support and allowance: The trainee will receive supervision and guidance from senior staff members at UNOSAT. The selected trainee will receive an allowance of 700 CHF.
